When was the last time you and your spouse talked about eternity?
Most couples spend their time discussing finances, children, work schedules, home projects, or the latest challenges they're facing. While those conversations matter, there's a much bigger question every Christian couple should ask:
Are we building a marriage that's preparing us for eternity?
The Bible reminds us in Colossians 3:2, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Yet it's easy to become consumed with temporary frustrations and lose sight of God's eternal purpose for our marriage.
Marriage was never meant to be only about happiness. It was designed to glorify Christ, refine our character, and point others to Him. Every disagreement becomes an opportunity to choose forgiveness. Every sacrifice becomes an opportunity to demonstrate Christ's love. Every day becomes another chance to encourage one another toward a deeper relationship with Jesus.
When an eternal perspective becomes the foundation of your marriage, everything begins to change. You stop asking, "How can my spouse make me happier?" and start asking, "How can we honor God together?"
An eternity focused marriage is built intentionally through praying together, reading God's Word together, serving others together, and encouraging one another to grow in Christ. These daily choices create a legacy that extends far beyond your own lives and impacts future generations.
None of us knows how much time we have. That's why today is the day to invest in what matters most.
Don't allow temporary distractions to steal your eternal purpose.
Fight for your marriage. Stay united. Keep your eyes on Jesus. As you do, your marriage won't just survive. It will become a testimony that points others to the hope found in Christ.
